Injured ? Put the bikes aside !After a bike crash involving head trauma, loss of consciousness, closed head injury or other neurological signs of damage, many veteran cyclists find it very hard to rest and recuperate. Missing their daily “endorphin high,” riders, racers, commuters and other cyclists often return to their sports
before cleared to do so by their treating doctors. Triathlon Trial Lawyer Doug Landau often counsels injured cyclists, triathletes and sports enthusiasts after high speed bike crashes, that they may have sustained a closed head injury, concussion, traumatic brain injury, etc., and that intracranial swelling, neurological and other symptoms should not be ignored. The treatments after such traumatic accidents need time to be efficacious, and injured triathletes and cyclists need to follow their health care providers’ instructions. At Abrams Landau, Ltd. we routinely have to remind our clients that the body heals with time, and it is not a good idea to try to fool (or rush) “Mother Nature.”

Dr. Saylor's St.Paddy's Day riding outfitThis time of year TriathlonTrialLawyer Doug Landau tries to wear green and sign pleadings in green. This year, Dr. Keith Saylor of NeuroScience, Inc. in Herndon, was the very picture of sartorial splendor biking during the always festive St. Patrick’s week celebrations. Of course, bike gear from the College of William & Mary just happens to be the right colors, but no matter, it was the thought that counts. Next year Herndon-Reston area injury lawyer Doug Landau will have to “step it up” and be clad in green from head to foot if he is to match the experienced triathlete and neuroscientist. In fact,
when he saw Saylor’s outfit this year, Landau was “green” - with envy !
Enjoy the holiday and remember to travel safely.

Ted Poulos points the way !The quaddrennial “Tidal Basin Leap Year Run” took place Friday, February 29th, 2008, with two dozen hardy souls making the 3km. circuit around the Tidal Basin, Jefferson and FDR Memorials. It was cold, but at least it was also windy ! The sun was out, but there is little protection from gusts around the Potomac River and the Tidal Basin. Ted Poulos, shown here pointing out the route to Race Director Jay Wind, won the event. Poulous makes even the Triathlon Trial Lawyer look like a “slacker” with his unbelieveable racing schedule.
He has raced over 250 events in a single year, a feat recounted in Runners World Magazine and the Guiness Book of World Records. TheAthletesLawyer did the course in 12:03, to finish in 5th. To translate, the Herndon Virginia injury attorney ran the equivalent of a 40:10 pace for 10km, or about 6:30 per mile.

The Triathlon Trial Lawyer Doug Landau has put together a team of athletes to run at the 16th Annual Van Metre 5 Mile Run For Children’s Hospital on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 8:30 am. This charitable event has a New Race Location at Broadlands Market Place. Landau, and team members Rob Colburn, Doug “Mano” Steele and Dr. Keith Saylor will use the race as a “brick workout” by cycling immediately after finishing the 8 km. run ! While the Potomac River Running team is the favorite to win, the Abrams Landau injury attorney promises to give full value.
Childrens Hospital has treated Abrams Landau cleints in the past, and will, no doubt, help others in the future. Children’s National Medical Center Read the rest of this entry »

Steve Shulman & TriathlonTrialLawyer Doug Landau at The sculpture “The Awakening,” a fixture on the end of Hains Point in Washington, D.C. is there no longer. This artwork, now featured in running ads, was of a giant’s head, legs and arms emerging from the ground. Triathlon Trial Lawyer Doug Landau rememberes when the Potomac RIver flooded, the giant looked like he was drowning ! The sculpture is being moved to its new location in the District. Runners will miss this unique landmark.
Shown here is Landau and United States Maccabiah Triathlon Team member Steve Shulman of New York. These teammates had just finished racing in a 5km. around Hains Point. Landau managed to win the Citizen’s Award at this event sponsored by the American University Law School in Washington, D.C.

TriathlonTrialLawyer Doug Landau & Steve Schloss after teh National Age Group ChampionshipsDoug Landau checking in at Hagg Lake for the National Age Group Olympic Distance Triathlon Championships. Also shown beginning the bike leg and post-race with Maccabiah teammate and age group award winner Steve Schloss of Muttontown, New York. This was a very challenging venue with narrow, rolling bike and run courses. The 2008 race will be contested in September, which should make for warmer water temperatures. Definitely a course to preview and hopefully the race directors will eliminate road traffic during this National Championship, to make it safer for contestants.

On Saturday, March 8th, Triathlon Trial Lawyer Doug Landau will again participate in the 9th Annual Shamrock 5k Run & 1 mile fun run/walk.
Donna Rostant, Reston Road Runners Club President, bundled for a cold weather ride ! This year, In the past, he has taken part in the early morning Masters Swim practices at the George Mason University Freedom Fitness facility nearby, and made his own “aquathlon” with International triathlon star Laurent “the blue turtle” Rouad. They have put in the yardage in the pool, run the 5km, and then, sometime returned to GMU for a session in the weight room ! TheAthletesLawyer does not foresee anything so gruelling. Abrams Landau trial lawyer Doug Landau will simply ride his racing bike for an hour or more, and then jump into the 5km ! He will do this “brick workout” in order to get ready for the National Duathlon Championship in Richmond on April 27th. The Race sponsored by G.C. Round PTO. Warm ups will be at 9:30 AM, followed by the 1 mile fun run/walk at 9:45, and the competitive 5k race at 10:00. The
Reston Road Runners Club has done the timing and event management of this growing race. For more information, Contact: Kristen Whatley 703-257-8069 shamrockrun@comcast.net

Triathlon Trial Lawyer Doug Landau will not only be racing at BOTH Reston Triathlons, but he will be a volunteer again as well this year. Landau, of ABRAMS LANDAU, Ltd., will be a participant at the VTS Reston Sprint Race in June, where he won his age group and finished in the top ten last year en route to a winning season in the Virginia Triathlon Series (”VTS”). He will help the staff at Set-Up Events at registration the day before this pool swim, early season Sprint Distance competition. Landau has indicated that he will not be racing in the series this year, but may take part in several events if his “Race, Case & Place” schedules permit !
In September, TheAthletesLawyer will not only help at registration at South Lakes High School, but he will also compete in the 25th anniversary Reston Triathlon. While injury lawyer Landau has never cracked the top 20 at this very competitive nearly Olympic Distance race, he has a personal best of under 2:09:00 and many instances of almost missing his wave start !
