Hey Herndon lawyer Landau, when the Defendant gets a ticket for hitting a biker or runner, they’re guilty, right ?

WRONG !  Herndon car and bike crash lawyer Doug Landau wagers that we all know someone who was issued a speeding or other traffic ticket, only to have it dismissed, reduced, or “beaten.”  Just because the person who caused a crash got a ticket DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY mean they are “guilty” in the civil personal injury case.  The ABRAMS LANDAU Trial Team has seen many cases where the Defendant was issued a ticket and their insurance company still denied the claim of the injured plaintiffs.  What’s more, according to former Florida State Prosecutor Landau, many tickets are dismissed, not prosecuted, beaten and even appealed.  That is why it is so critical to take proactive steps after a car crash, EVEN IF THE OTHER DRIVER IS GIVEN A TICKET ! If you, or someone you know, has been injured in a car crash accident, please e-mail or call us at ABRAMS LANDAU (703-796-9555) BEFORE the Traffic Court date.  We have FREE information that can help you, even if we do not end up representing you.

Field Marshalls help reign in out of control parents

Having served as a field marshall in soccer tournaments, sports injury lawyer Doug Landau knows how important a function this is to keep order on and off the field.  With players and parents showing less respect for referees. coaches and the Codes of Good Sportsmanship, field marshals can ensure safe playing conditions and quell disputes off the field so that the games can go on.  In the Virginia, Maryland and DC metro area soccer leagues, there are often teenage soccer referees and linemen/women.  When an irate adult parent, coach or trainer “gets in their face,” as has happened to my own son, things can get ugly if there is not an adult in charge of the field and tournament safety.   When field marshals are alert for unsafe conditions and actions by spectators, coaching staff or players, they can help provide an insulating barrier to violence and injury on and off the field.  The next time you are at a youth soccer tournament, thank the field marshals as well as the scoring volunteers, refs, linesmen and women.

Landau repeats as Age Group Champion at Maui Whale Festival

East Coast snow storms stranded Triathlon Trial Lawyer Doug Landau on Maui after his speech to the American Association for Justice.  What did the Herndon Reston area runner and injury lawyer do with the extra time on the island ?  Oak Hill’s fleet footed lawyer found a race to jump into and managed to cop another top finish in Hawaii.  After finishing second overall in the Forge 5km the week before, Landau went out with the lead pack and finished 5th overall, winning his Age Group and getting a medal and a lei !

Runners and walkers joined in the popular Run for the Whales along the scenic coast of South Maui. This popular running event is at the top of the list of Maui’s best attended 5K and Half-Marathon runs.  Mrs. Landau did the longer race, and more than 800 athletes participated. The races benefit marine education programs for Maui schoolchildren. The Run for the Whales began at the Makena Beach & Golf Resort, and travelled over a winding, rolling course through the resort area of Makena and Wailea. The runners will turn at Makena Landing and head back to Polo Beach Park.  Parts of the course are oceanside, in areas where runners might catch a glimpse of a breaching whale or two !

The last time Landau was in Maui, the Virginia disability lawyer and his family participated in the Save the Whales events, with Landau running the 5k, KeiKei 2k (kids run with his kids) and the one mile ocean swim.  Mrs. Landau, the long distance endurance athlete, did the 10km.  Landau highly recommends this event as well as the Foundation’s educational programs to anyone visiting Maui.

A whale of a ride; sun, surf & sea !

The American Association for Justice (“AAJ”) Bicycle Litigation Group met today in order to discuss trends in the law, strategy for helping injured cyclists and products liability actions.  Immediately following the meeting at the mid-winter meeting headquarters, the group of lawyers from all over the United States went for a bike tour with the professional cyclists from Go Cycling Maui.

Go Cycling Maui provided the ultimate cycling tour experience !  They treated the cyclists like they were on a professional cycling team, sort of a fantasy camp for cyclists. The added bonus is that the bikers were able to cycle in one of the most beautiful places on earth.  In addition to being a full service bike store and Go Cycling Maui also rents top racing and touring bikes. Donnie Arnoult and his staff had a ride planned that took the cycling attorneys past a pro surfing competition, spouting whales and a farmers market.
